7. ESCMA Policy

1. Statement of principles


This tourism project expresses its absolute and explicit rejection of any form of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents (CSEA) and reaffirms its commitment to the comprehensive protection of the rights of children and adolescents, understanding that tourism must be an ethical, responsible activity that respects the territory and its communities.


The protection of children and adolescents is a responsibility shared between the State, businesses, local communities and visitors.


2. Applicable legal framework


This policy is based on current Colombian legislation, in particular:

  • Law 679 of 2001, which prevents and punishes sexual exploitation of minors.
  • Law 1336 of 2009, which reinforces ESCMA's prevention and control actions in the context of tourism.
  • Law 1098 of 2006 – Children and Adolescents Code.
  • Law 300 of 1996 – General Tourism Act.


The sexual exploitation of children and adolescents is a serious criminal offence punishable under Colombian law, regardless of the nationality of the offender.


3. Alcance de la política
